Materials: Shirts, Fabric Paint*, Paint Brushes

Project Description: This week we will paint that memory that fills us with joy and that we can share with the rest.

Art for the Soul is an art therapy group for women (18 and older) who have cancer, who are cancer survivors, who support someone with cancer, or are grieving a death to cancer. This is a 10 week group, though you do not need to attend every one (there are some exceptions for multi-week projects--these are noted). For most weeks, supplies can be found around the house, or adjustments can be made so you can participate. For weeks that require more specialized supplies, we will offer supply pick-up times. Details will be provided.

To receive the Zoom link, register by midnight the night before the class. If you want to register after that time, have questions, or are having technical difficulties, please email:

About Mayela Finol:

Mayela (pronounced ma-JEL-a) Finol is an Art Therapy senior student at Edgewood College. She is happy to blend her passions of making art and helping people. She grew up in an artistic environment and her first steps with art were drawing and painting. Her skills expanded at Edgewood College where she had the opportunity to explore other materials such as ceramics, wood, paper, and threading. Mayela is originally from Venezuela and she has been living in Madison for about 19 years. She has been working for the Madison School District for close to a decade as a Behavior Education Assistant. While working with children who have behavior challenges Mayela has developed a positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to engage in their work and succeed. Mayela is inspired daily by her husband and their two children.

Zoom access is provided by our Technology Sponsors, the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative and UW Carbone Cancer Center.
