CUREative Art for Teens: Creative Self Care

Monday, March 8, 2021 @ 7 pm CST via Zoom

Description:

Join other teens touched by cancer for an art group dedicated to self-care. Brainstorm all the ways you keep yourself well as you cope with the effects cancer has/has had on your family. Learn how to represent wellness through creative art: symbols, images, drawing, painting, collage, poems, and/or songs. Focus on one way to keep yourself well or represent a variety of ways to keep yourself well into one artwork.<

What You'll Need:

ANY art supplies you have at home that you like to use. For example:

  • Journal and/or drawing paper
  • Your choice of drawing materials
  • Your choice of collage materials such as magazine or calendar images, glue stick, scissors, paper
  • Past artworks you have made to share
  • Your creative ideas

        About the Facilitator:

Molly Linn-Miller has been working as a registered art therapist for 13 years. She provides art therapy and support for both individuals and groups.

She works with a variety of populations and ages including families living with cancer, those recovering from substance abuse, adults with living with autism, memory loss and other mental illness, and pre-school aged children.

Molly also paints large scale children’s murals and makes collages using a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials. In addition to art-making she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, cooking and eating food with her girlfriends, hiking and playing ultimate frisbee.

Zoom access is provided by our Technology Sponsors, the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative and UW Carbone Cancer Center.
