Intro to Watercolor Painting (2 Sessions) Location: Virtual - assigned links

AND Wednesday, July 7th @ 7pm CDT via Zoom

Description:

In this 2 part class, students will learn the basics of watercolor painting. We'll practice color theory and value, experiment with different brushwork, layering in color, use the language of art and design to hold group shares, or critiques, understand art history as we study and make art inspired by artists' work, and make pieces with our own styles. All skill levels are welcome!

Materials Available for Pickup: We have a few sets of watercolor paints, brushes, and paper that can be picked up from our clubhouse in Middleton - please email marc@gildasclubmadison.org if you would like more information.

Materials You'll Need:

You'll need a basic set of watercolor paints, at least one paint brush, and watercolor paper. Below are some suggestions we found on Amazon, but you can find similar items at many local and online stores (art supply stores or even Walgreens, Target, etc).

About Mallory Shotwell:

Mallory Shotwell is an interdisciplinary artist and arts educator. In her art practice, she works with storytelling/interview, audio, photography, and video to share stories based on a theme. She majored in English at Aquinas College in Michigan, and later French and Elementary Education at Edgewood College in Madison. She worked as a public school teacher in Michigan and as a Montessori teacher in Madison. In her teaching practice, she utilizes multiple learning styles to serve and respect people's needs.
