Kid Support

Kid Support is a 10-week support group for kids ages 4-12 who are affected by cancer. The program is for both children who have a parent or family member with cancer and children who themselves have cancer. Kid Support uses education, art, expressive games, and team-building to help children feel safe to ask questions, express difficult feelings, and share common experiences. The group is facilitated by mental health professionals. Session topics include: understanding cancer, understanding feelings, talking about change, learning to relax, appreciating ourselves, solving problems, and celebrating. Kids who participate will experience peer support, learn new coping skills, and have a safe space to express their feelings. Families find that their participation with Kid Support increases communication about cancer, strengthens the bond between parents and children, and reduces stress in the family. Kid Support takes place during Family Night on Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30 pm. Please call for more information or to register your child for the group.

Kids must be pre-assigned to this group; please call 828-8875 for more information.
