Learn to Play Ukulele
This work shop is aimed at people that have never played an instrument before.  Attendees will be provided with instruments to use.  The program starts with how to count a 4/4 time signature, then how to hold the instrument, how to strum, how to form first one chord then another. At this point we play two songs with these two chords.  Then we proceed to a third chord and play a few easy songs using all three chords.

The programs lasts for one hour after which attendees will have the chords for a 1-4-5, progression in the key of C.  This progression in the basis of all Rock Blues and Country music, and with just these three chords, dozens of songs can be played.

This program is being given by David Bartig, of Madison.  Dave will be the first to admit he is no musical genius.  Although he started playing music in grade school band, and played harmonica in blues bands for a number of years, he didn’t start playing ukulele until he was 40 years old.  He was smitten by the fact that it is comparatively easy to play and one can be playing songs shortly after picking the thing up.  The workshop is a compilation of what works for him, and just like if, Yan can cook so can you, if this works for Dave, it will work for you too.
