TaiChi Movement Location: ZOOM Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade or Eight Skilken Movements) is one of the most common forms of Tai Chi exercise that serves to improve human health. A complete Baduanjin includes eight separate exercises, each addressing a different physical area and qi meridian. In traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians support the flow of qi and other fundamental substances in the body. There are both standing and seated versions of Baduanjin in history, but the standing version is more popular among modern practitioners. Studies show that practicing Baduanjin regularly is beneficial for quality of life, sleep quality, balance, handgrip strength, trunk flexibility, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and resting heart rate.
