Knitting can decrease stress, increase self-esteem, and improve focus and memory. It is not about performance or perfection. Gilda's Knit Karma Club serves as a welcome opportunity to experience the health benefits of knitting while finding friendship along the way.

All fiber artists are welcome!  Crochet, embroidery, slow stitching, you name it!

Bring your own project, or we have yarn, needles and ideas.  All skill levels are welcome.

From our instructor Shari Porte "I began knitting in my 30's. Over the years, I have knitted many sweaters that are a bit oversized, scarves that are a tad too long, and gloves that are fingerless. I am an above average knitter but not a master knitter. Present day, I like to keep it simpler and knit straightforward scarves while I stream. I am looking forward to meeting up with other knitters, marveling at their choices of color and texture, and helping to rescue a dropped stitch or two :-)"

Gilda Reads: Mr. Dickens and His Carol Time 10:30 AM Location Gilda's Club, 7907 UW Health Ct., Middleton, WI Mr. Dickens and His Carol by Samantha Silva Dec. 3 3 - 4:30 pm A beloved, irresistible novel that reimagines the story behind Charles Dickens' Christmas classic Charles Dickens is not feeling the Christmas spirit. His newest book is an utter flop, the critics have turned against him, relatives near and far hound him for money. While his wife plans a lavish holiday party for their ever-expanding family and circle of friends, Dickens has visions of the poor house. But when his publishers try to blackmail him into writing a Christmas book to save them all from financial ruin, he refuses. And a serious bout of writer’s block sets in. Frazzled and filled with self-doubt, Dickens seeks solace in his great palace of thinking, the city of London itself. On one of his long night walks, in a once-beloved square, he meets the mysterious Eleanor Lovejoy, who might be just the muse he needs. As Dickens’ deadlines close in, Eleanor propels him on a Scrooge-like journey that tests everything he believes about generosity, friendship, ambition, and love. The story he writes will change Christmas forever. Info & Registration

Tai Chi: Evenings Time 7:00 PM Location Virtual - assigned links

Every Tuesday @ 7 pm via Zoom

A short (14 minute) practice to breathe, and move.

Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade or Eight Skilken Movements) is one of the most common forms of Tai Chi exercise that serves to improve human health. A complete Baduanjin includes eight separate exercises, each addressing a different physical area and qi meridian. In traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians support the flow of qi and other fundamental substances in the body.

Studies show that practicing Baduanjin regularly is beneficial for quality of life, sleep quality, balance, handgrip strength, trunk flexibility, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and resting heart rate.
