Cooking Class: Potato Latkes w/ Homemade Cranberry Applesauce
Time
11:00 AM
Location
Virtual - assigned links
Friday, Dec 8th @ 11am Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make potato latkes with homemade cranberry applesauce. You can follow along and cook during class, or just observe as a lecture.
What You'll Need:
- - Ingredients & Prep: If you’ll be cooking this dish along with the chef during class: Read through the Recipe Packet (PDF), purchase any ingredients you need, and complete the prep work before class begins.
About Chef Michael Solovey:
Chef Michael Solovey started cooking at a young age under the tutelage of his Mother, a refined,
self-taught culinarian. He would later graduate magna cum laude from Le Cordon Bleu at Scottsdale Culinary Institute before moving to Shanghai, China in 2008. Over the course of five years working in the food and beverage industry in Asia, Chef Michael
played various roles in opening 24 food and beverage establishments including his very own Eastern European inspired restaurant, Bloc.
In the past seven years, Michael has served as Resident Chef for Sur La Table and Chef/Cooking School Director for The Boelter Companies in Glendale, Wisconsin. He is now the owner of Sage Harvest Cooking School.
He has taught over 1,800 classes to over 10,000 students. His pedagogy implements approachable science to help his students understand why different cooking techniques render a variety of results in the kitchen; all for the sake of developing students'
culinary instinct. Although Chef Michael personally writes and curates all of the recipes used in his classes, his approach is decidedly anti-recipe as his aim is to empower everyone from the novice foodie to the seasoned industry professional to
take confident control of their diet, health, and wellness by cooking amazing food.

Location
Virtual - assigned links
Wednesday, Dec 20th @ 6pm Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make a trio of traditional holiday sides:
- Scalloped Potatoes / Au Gratin Potatoes
- Brussels Sprouts in two different ways: Sweet Heat; With Bacon and Cranberries
- Green Bean Almondine

THIS WORKSHOP IS OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS!
Make you own health care decisions. Advance care planning is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself and to your loved ones. It takes courage to plan ahead and think about a time in the future when you may not be able to make healthcare decisions
for yourself or you are not able to communicate your preferences. By planning ahead, you can find comfort that your current and future care preferences are in writing and will guide your loved ones so they will not have the burden of guessing what
you would want during if you could not speak for yourself about medical decisions. Learn more about how you can make your own health care decisions through written and verbal communication with your medical team and family.

Cooking Class: Tamales
Time
11:00 AM
Location
Virtual - assigned links
Friday, January 12 @ 11am Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make tamales. During class he'll demonstrate how to make Chipotle Chicken Tamales with Salsa Rojo. We're also including the recipes for Cotija Cheese and Corn Tamales (vegetarian) with Salsa Verde as a bonus, which he'll discuss briefly. We suggest observing this class as a lecture, taking notes, and asking questions rather than cooking along. We'll send attendees a recording of class afterwards.

Cooking Class: Miso Soup
Time
11:00 AM
Location
Virtual - assigned links
Friday, February 23 @11am Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make miso soup.

Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade or Eight Skilken Movements) is one of the most common forms of Tai Chi exercise that serves to improve human health. A complete Baduanjin includes eight separate exercises, each addressing a different physical area
and qi meridian. In traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians support the flow of qi and other fundamental substances in the body.
There are both standing and seated versions of Baduanjin in history, but the standing version is more popular among modern practitioners. Studies show that practicing Baduanjin regularly is beneficial for quality of life, sleep quality, balance, handgrip
strength, trunk flexibility, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and resting heart rate.
Registration is required to receive the zoom link. Links and meeting info are sent to registrants the morning of the event.
