From our instructor Shari Porte "I began knitting in my 30's. Over the years, I have knitted many sweaters that are a bit oversized, scarves that are a tad too long, and gloves that are fingerless. I am an above average knitter but not a master knitter. Present day, I like to keep it simpler and knit straightforward scarves while I stream. I am looking forward to meeting up with other knitters, marveling at their choices of color and texture, and helping to rescue a dropped stitch or two :-)"

Cooking Class: Smoky Cauliflower Frittata
Time
6:00 PM
Location
Virtual - assigned links
Wednesday, April 2 @ 6pm Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make a smokey cauliflower frittata. You can follow along and cook during class, or just observe as a lecture.
What You'll Need:
- - Ingredients & Prep: If you’ll be cooking this dish along with the chef during class: Read through the Recipe Packet (PDF),
purchase any ingredients you need, and complete the prep work before class begins.
About Chef Michael Solovey:
Chef Michael Solovey started cooking at a young age under the tutelage of his Mother, a refined,
self-taught culinarian. He would later graduate magna cum laude from Le Cordon Bleu at Scottsdale Culinary Institute before moving to Shanghai, China in 2008. Over the course of five years working in the food and beverage industry in Asia, Chef Michael
played various roles in opening 24 food and beverage establishments including his very own Eastern European inspired restaurant, Bloc.
In the past seven years, Michael has served as Resident Chef for Sur La Table and Chef/Cooking School Director for The Boelter Companies in Glendale, Wisconsin. He is now the owner of Sage Harvest Cooking School.
He has taught over 1,800 classes to over 10,000 students. His pedagogy implements approachable science to help his students understand why different cooking techniques render a variety of results in the kitchen; all for the sake of developing students'
culinary instinct. Although Chef Michael personally writes and curates all of the recipes used in his classes, his approach is decidedly anti-recipe as his aim is to empower everyone from the novice foodie to the seasoned industry professional to
take confident control of their diet, health, and wellness by cooking amazing food.

and Artist method. Within months after chemo had ended, she became an Amherst Writer and Artist facilitator of Write to Heal, a writing group for cancer survivors and caregivers at Gilda’s Club in Middleton, WI. Her daughter Josie has been an integral

Knit Karma
Time
1:30 PM
Wednesdays @1:30-2:30pm
In Person at Gilda's Club
Knitting can decrease stress, increase self-esteem, and improve focus and memory. It is not about performance or perfection. Gilda's Knit Karma Club serves as a welcome opportunity to experience the health benefits of knitting while finding friendship
along the way.
All fiber artists are welcome! Crochet, embroidery, slow stitching, you name it! Snag a beverage, perhaps a snack and join us.
Bring your own project, or we have yarn, needles and ideas. All skill levels are welcome.

Cooking Class: Apple & Fennel Salad with Lemon Parmesan Dressing
Time
11:00 AM
Location
Virtual - assigned links
Friday, April 18 @ 11am Central via Zoom
Description:
Join this online cooking class where Chef Michael Solovey will teach us how to make a delicious, crunchy salad that features fennel, apple, celery and more, all in a lemon parmesan dressing. You can follow along and cook during class, or just observe as a lecture.
What You'll Need:
- - Ingredients & Prep: We'll add a recipe packet closer to the class date and will email a copy to all registered attendees.

Basic Fly Casting
Time
12:00 PM
Location
7907 UW Health Ct., Middleton, WI
BASIC FLY CASTING
Thurs. May 8 noon - 2 pm Curious about fly fishing? About casting? What's the buzz all about?
The fly-casting session on May 8th will be led by Katherine Ford and her husband Dave Ford, through Lineworkers — the education arm of the Deer Creek Sports and Conservation Club.
They are excited to offer a gentle and fun introduction to fly casting, with the goal of getting everyone ready for a casual fishing outing on May 22, where we’ll try our hand at picking up a few panfish.
This isn’t about expert-level casting — it’s simply a chance to learn the basics in a low-pressure, encouraging setting. Bring a buddy, or meet someone here! OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS.
Both Dave and Kathy have completed the Wisconsin DNR’s Angler Education and R3 Instructor Training Course, and we’ve reached the Bronze level in Fly Fishers International’s Skills Development Program. While we’re not certified casting instructors, we’ve
trained under a Certified Casting Instructor and love sharing what we’ve learned.
We’ll keep things simple, practical, and supportive — helping everyone feel confident enough to step up to the water and enjoy the experience. Equipment will be provided. We will be at the Clubhouse.

Knit Karma
Time

A short (14 minute) practice to breathe, move start your day off.
Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade or Eight Skilken Movements) is one of the most common forms of Tai Chi exercise that serves to improve human health. A complete Baduanjin includes eight separate exercises, each addressing a different physical area
and qi meridian. In traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians support the flow of qi and other fundamental substances in the body.
There are both standing and seated versions of Baduanjin in history, but the standing version is more popular among modern practitioners. Studies show that practicing Baduanjin regularly is beneficial for quality of life, sleep quality, balance, handgrip
strength, trunk flexibility, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and resting heart rate.
